Virginia Williams is a girl’s kinda girl – fun-loving, sincere, hard-working and downright beautiful to her heart-warming core. When you meet her, you get the impression that you already know her. Maybe it’s because she’s appeared in over 28 television series, including recurring roles on "How I Met Your Mother," "Better off Ted," "Two and a Half Men," "Veronica Mars," and "Cold Case."
Born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee, Virginia began acting as a teen when she auditioned and landed roles on both “One Life to Live” and “As the World Turns”. For a year, Virginia commuted between New York City and Memphis, juggling work and high school’s senior year. Knowing the lifelong value of a good education, Virginia put work aside to attend Fordham University full time. She earned a B.A. degree in Theatre Performance, studied Shakespeare at Oxford University and the British American Drama Academy in London.
As the current star in the new USA Network hit series “Fairly Legal”, Virginia plays Lauren Reed, a young, headstrong business woman who takes over her husband’s law firm when he passes. Lauren’s character faces the complexities of feeling thrown in over her head at the office while also dealing with her same-aged, jumbled step-daughter-slash-employee. The second season of “Fairly Legal” debuts on Friday, March 16th, 9/8 c on USA Network.
We recently caught up with Virginia on a rare day off to get her take on beauty, leading men, and all things La Fresh.
Q: How do you feel about being involved in the La Fresh campaign?
Virginia: I'm thrilled about it, primarily because I really believe in the product! I actually use La Fresh products on a daily basis. I bring them with me when I’m on set, I use them in my trailer and I keep an assortment of La Fresh products in my car. The brand really suits my lifestyle given how much I travel. They are the most convenient products I’ve ever used.
Q: Which La Fresh products are your favorites?
Virginia:I LOVE the Waterproof Makeup Remover, because it’s extremely gentle and it’s actually good for my skin. When I’m shooting, I have makeup applied daily. They actually airbrush me on set, even my neck. If I want to wash up at the end of the day, the wipes are so great, because I can cleanse my face, my ears and even my neck.
This past summer, I shot a couple of movies, one was in Charlotte North Carolina and one was in New Orleans. The south is just rampant with mosquitoes and bugs! I brought the La Fresh Insect Repellent Wipes to work. The whole crew and cast were using them! They’re just fantastic.
One thing I love so much is that La Fresh is so travel-friendly. I hardly ever check a bag when I fly, so I pack the wipes and everything I need in my carry on. If I’m on the run, I pop into the airport bathroom and wash my face with the Oil-free Face Cleanser, and I use the La Fresh Deodorant. It’s a great way to freshen up!
Q: Tell us about some of your beauty secrets. How do you stay looking so fresh and healthy?
Virginia:I think beauty starts from the inside out. And while I’m not a complete purist with food (I certainly enjoy the occasional slice of pizza), I try to eat a lot of organic fresh fruits and vegetables. I am pretty much a pescatarian, so I eat a lot of fish. I think if you live a healthy lifestyle by exercising and eating right, it’ll come through in your skin. I don’t have the luxury of sleeping a whole lot, yet I do think sleep is a great beauty secret. I do find myself using a lot of eye cream to make up for lost sleep!
Q: What’s your favorite movie of all time?
Virginia:Ever since I was a little girl, I have been obsessed with The Karate Kid and Ralph Macchio! I know every line, every music cue to that movie. I recently had my childhood fantasy come true when I got to meet Ralph Macchio at an event. I was completely weak in the knees and realized how lucky I am to do what I do. There’s a picture of me with Ralph on my Facebook page! My husband thinks it’s adorable that I have this childhood crush.
Q: Who would be your choice to play opposite in a romantic comedy? Aside from Ralph Macchio of course…
Virginia:Hmm, I’m kind of big on Ryan Gosling right now. He’s just the dreamiest and so enigmatic. I find his choice of roles so interesting.
